As a backyard horse owner on a budget for most of my life, I understand the challenges faced by those who choose this very rewarding but often frustrating form of horse ownership. The horse world is notorious for having as many theories on how to do things “right” as there are horsemen! I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but I have learned a few things over the years (most of them the hard way) and have been lucky enough to be in the company of many educated, experienced and enlightened horsemen. The goal of this site is to pull all that information together in a central place to be a resource to all those who seek information on how to combine horsekeeping with housekeeping and still hold on to your family, your money and your mind!

I’ll be sharing best practices around effectively managing your mini horse facility, keeping safe, keeping solvent, and having fun! I won’t be delving into horse training, except for safety considerations, and horse health advice will be general as you should be relying on your veterinarian for that.
